An Indianapolis, Ind., tow truck driver found himself shackled in handcuffs because he failed to thoroughly check the vehicle he towed from a department store fire lane. With a quick look, the operator may have seen the 7-year-old boy asleep on the seat.
The boy’s mother told police she parked in the fire lane and went into the store thinking she would immediately return. Store clerks told police she was in the store for 10-15 minutes.
The tow truck driver noticed the vehicle in the fire lane, hooked up the car and left the parking lot with the car in tow. Shortly after, the driver called dispatch saying he was returning to the store because he discovered a child in the car
